Performatively developed phrases. Dualities related to the western society's discourses of the earliest past. George Orwell's 1984 as a model to express.
"The large format calls for a collective work dynamic and multi-bodied movement. The motifs were cut into MDF panels in the format 120cm x 150cm and printed as part of a group action at the end of June. The images evolve from the concept, which reflects the world in the present time in its drama. The large-format images are created using a 2.5-ton tandem roller. The street becomes a printing workshop and the steamroller a printing press." – Oliver Kossack
The woodcut xxl seminar was Oliver Kossack's last project during his professorship at Leipzig's art academy. It was a continuation of his regular seminar Artist's Proof were we basically discussed ideas around printmaking. woddcut xxl was a cooperation with Juana Anzellini. She brought in input from Columbian printmaking as well as independent, non-institutional and public workshop organization. Oliver Kossacks proposal for the semester's topic was something between 'apocalypse' and 'end of world'.
As the motifs were very large and the academy's printing presses were too small, we had to print them using a road cunstruction roller. Oliver Kossack himself was the pilot. The seminar participants supported each other in all individual steps of the entire printing process.

What mood remains with start of a new week? After the last days were cold, dark and short the remaining energy is low and exhausted. With its very last power reserves a guy moves his body to the lighthouse and climbs to the top. The only task he feels to do: holding the light.
With its signal light now, the lighthouse guy's wants to guide you smooth on your journey to the next harbour
